TIPS FOR BUYING A HOUSE

1. Financing Pre-approval

Contact a loan officer to begin your pre-approval process. Starting the process prior to searching for homes will help to ensure a comfort level in pricing. This will also help you feel more confident and enable you to compete if there are multiple offers for a specific home. Your lender will break down the costs associated with the mortgage and funds needed for the down payment on the home. In some cases, there are programs that help people buy a home with no down payment.

2. Price

In today’s market, the supply outnumbers demand. Offers often come in below full price. Your agent is there not only to help you find a home but to support you in the offer process and provide you with the strategies and experience you need working for you.

3. Closing Costs

After you find a home, closing fees on the house may be up to 10 percent of the price of the sale amount. You should take this into account prior to making an offer.

4. Good Faith Deposits

An earnest money deposit is attached with a contract to purchase. The amount of the deposit will demonstrate the sincerity and motivation to close the transaction (usually $500-$5000). Our experienced agent will be able to help you determine the appropriate amount to offer.
